Kids Huddle:

To All Our Moms

Pastor Arleen Clark

I freshly came upon a book I used for a “Mommy and Me” type Bible study many years ago. The title of the book is, “Train Up a Mom.” It is taken from the verse in Proverbs 22:6. I think that we can glean something from each of the titles of the chapters of the book. Train up a mom To Want to Grow; To Walk in Intimacy; To Accept God’s Way; To Walk by Faith; To Love Supernaturally; To Study Her Children; To Affirm Their Natural Bent; To Claim God’s Promises; To Pray and Plan; and, To Let Her Children Go. The first four chapters of the book deal with the mother’s walk with the Lord. We need to make our walk with the Lord a high priority. We need to be listening to the Lord for direction for ourselves and our families. As mothers we need to learn to walk by faith and not by sight. We need to be sharing with our children the things that God has done for us. We all find it easy to love our little newborn, but as our children grow it is not always as easy, so we need to love them with God’s love. We need to be engaged with our children’s lives so we can truly know them and be able to affirm to them what God is doing in them. We need to be claiming God’s promises and praying for each one. Then the hardest one of all—when our task is
